In 2010, the UK government had a plan to introduce identity cards for all citizens. Reactions to the plan were mixed, and eventually the idea was abandoned. This lesson focuses on the use of identity cards. Students will learn vocabulary related to personal information, take part in a mingling activity about ID cards, read two case studies offering different opinions on the topic and then take part in a role play using these opinions. There is also a focus on pronunciation and an information gap speaking activity.
