In May 2014 we published a video of Winnie Pang during her first class with a group of very young learners. In this video, we meet Winnie and her class again at the end of the school year.

In this video, Winnie talks about how far the students have come in their development and we see how their language skills and confidence have improved over the course of the year. There are also interviews with the parents of the children, talking about the importance of language learning.

Firstly, thanks for this learning and teaching guide. The good points of this teaching and learning recording for learners in their earlier years are:
1. The evidently videoing pathway of educational research has been applied into this practice throughout the year, which gave us many pieces of enlightenment about how to organize our own courses;
2. Interviewing is another important approach for the investigations of language skills. Through charting with children and their parents. We can check what kind of standards we set are good and have been taken by Children. We can also check the shortcomings, of which our children haven't gotten, in order to fulfill our own plans into practices.

A little bit developing zone for this class :

'Young learner' is a generalized term, of which the individualist situations of students' ages, personalities, the habits of using language haven't been clarified in details. Yes, the interviewing can help us know some details.

However, in my opinion, a earlier-year-edition questionnaire, such as Stanford–Binet Intelligence Scales for cognition's development, (Introduction in Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford%E2%80%93Binet_Intelligence_Scales) is necessary. This questionnaire can be filled by parents' observations of their children and their cooperation with children themselves.
And more, adding ' several operational and practical standards abstracted from the 'Sequential skill development in learning to talk' and its introductions (Introductions in Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_development), or others for carefully following, can also make this procedure more professional.

All in all, depending on the practical situation, I need say: it is a good practice, but also has the developing zone for bettering

Hi, first I thank that good teacher for her good work. I'd just like to add something, the more you keep them smile, the more the get them understood & be attentive to everything you show. actually, it is not about the material you teach or the subject you choose, it is about the way you follow to teach that material. As a teacher, I followed the wrong way in teaching a story, and thought it was the story itself which is not attractive enough to my students, but later i realised it is the way i follow, so i changed my style, and i found that i got a good step in how to teach a story, as i could have four pupils - who were not aware of basic English rules - to act the story while i was telling them so i advise to keep them smile more and more and that will truly come, if the teacher wants to make his pupils happy, surly he can, if he's honest about that, and that what i noticed on Winnie's face. keep pushing them to smile more then they can enjoy what they're doing, then they will do their best to achieve it. children learn what they want to learn, and we have to make them want to learn rather than teach to them. thanks and good luck. bye
