Working in contexts where students are reluctant to speak out and afraid of making mistakes, teachers research and share how to encourage students to take risks with language and overcome their fear of speaking. 

In this video, Saima Iqbal from Pakistan and Indu Mehta from India describe how students who have interesting ideas to share are reluctant to communicate their ideas or speak out in the classroom.

Indu stresses the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment in which students can feel free to express themselves and their opinions without fear of making mistakes or being ridiculed by their peers.
