As part of the agreement LingleOnline will provide the British Council with innovative technology to automatically generate in-context word lists, grammar, vocabulary and comprehension exercises for English Language teachers on the teachingenglish website.
The revised agreement will see the use of regularly updated articles and material from the British Council’s learning sites as texts for teachers to use with LingleOnline’s technology, which will provide a greater link across the British Council sites for learners and teachers of English.
The new ‘Exercise generator’ will follow the ‘Flashcard maker’ as a ‘behind registration’ resource on the TeachingEnglish website.
Pedagogic best practice recognizes the benefits of using authentic learning material in second language acquisition (e.g. newspaper and magazine articles, blogs and websites). Use of authentic text increases learner motivation, exposes learners to more diverse vocabulary and wider grammar rule use, it provides contextual examples in multiple domains, ensures exposure to the latest vocabulary and its content has a general educational value all of which leads to an improved learning experience.
http://www.LingleOnline.com lets teachers and trainers automatically create English Language learning materials from current news sources. LingleOnline’s unique analysis engine allows teachers to analyze news articles to automatically identify grammar and vocabulary in context.
