Authentic listening at lower levels: responding to how learners feel

Fred Gordon explores using authentic texts with low-level learners.

About the talk

Lower-level learners can find authentic listening texts impenetrable, especially outside the managed confines of the classroom. This talk will examine how learners’ inability to understand real listening texts makes them feel. It will encourage teachers to recognise how learners respond emotionally to authentic material, and will suggest practical ideas to maintain learners’ motivation and help them achieve measurable, identifiable progress.

Hi Panimarta, Apologies if the sound is a bit quiet - this talk was recorded live at IATEFL, so the sound might not be perfect. Cath TE Team
